Bimonthly Meetups<\/a> on Wednesdays at 7:00pm, 1677 St. Clair Avenue West ! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week’s Meetup: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wet lab Wednesday Oct.1, 2025, 7pm<\/a>, will be mainly for DIYBIO full members to prepare for classes and courses this coming month<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we do not have a planned talk this week, we welcome anyone to drop by who is interested in finding out about our space or helping out, at 7 pm. Cheers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Week’s Meetup, Wednesday Sept 17th,<\/strong> we had a great discussion of molecular biology, general cloning methods and approaches!!! Thanks to all who attended! For Wet lab Wednesday: preparing for Cloning<\/a><\/strong>, we hosted an in-person talk and demo<\/strong> on basic cloning techniques and prepare for some basic cloning in the lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We discussed how to purify a PCR product and get it ready for cloning, design a construct, See how <\/strong>cloning is done for BSL1 constructs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was an awesome talk with the DIYBIO summer interns and Nims Thavandiran, a PhD in bioengineering.
\ud83d\udcc5 When:<\/strong> 2pm, Wednesday August 20th (in person). We explored how advanced bioengineering meets grassroots science at the future of biomedical research, and demoed some of our printed devices with food colouring! https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/diybio-toronto\/events\/310531811\/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Left Panel: After discussing some of the challenges with the GFP beer project, we successfully ran a protein gel to test out the PAGE equipment graciously donated to us last December! The protein standard separated nicely and we set the gel to stain. We will update further next week!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
